WXZY : Welcome to WXZY, the best radio in Colorado! Ann Thinner is with us in the studio to present her new book “Diets”: do’s and don’ts”.

Welcome Ann!

Ann: Thank you so much for having me with you today. In my book I give tips on how to lose weight healthily: what you should do and what you shouldn't do. Half of the American population is overweight and 20 per cent is obese. We have to do something about this! I hope that my book will help those people.

WXZY: Could you give us a few tips today?

Ann: Sure! It is very important to start the day with a good breakfast. Smoothies are really popular right now but are not a good idea at all. They contain too much sugar. Drink tea or coffee. Eat eggs instead of chocolate spread on your bread. For lunch eat a warm meal with potatoes, vegetables and meat. Be careful: half of your plate should contain vegetables. You shouldn't eat sauces because they contain too much fat. In the evening you should eat a light meal, like soup with a slice of bread or a salad with tuna.

WXZY: Do you also have more general tips?

Ann: Yes, you should drink two liters of water a day. Sodas are unhealthy and beer has a lot of calories. Eat healthy snacks. You should eat at least three pieces of fruit per day. Eating healthily and drinking enough water are the key ingredients but it isn't enough: you should also exercise thirty minutes a day and sleep for at least eight hours.
